History Of EMRC

Educational Multimedia Research Center, formerly Audio Visual Research Center, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, is a premier institution of DAVV and one of the 21 media centers of the country set up by the UGC. Established in June 1990, it became fully operational from July 1992.

The unique feature of EMRC is that all facets of Media Education, namely Production, Broadcast, Courses and Research are operating/functioning under one roof.

The Center has 3 professional state of art Audio and Video studios, exemplary in central India, equipped with Industry standard Digital Audio-Video recording facilities, Professional grade editing suites like DaVinci, Premiere and FCP, Graphics and Animation Applications. The Center is able to generate broadcast standard productions through its fully equipped classrooms, IT lab, Media Library and Multimedia lab.

The entire socio-commercial environment has undergone a change during the last 2 decades resulting in new challenges and opportunities for mass communicators. The media experts of tomorrow need to acquire new knowledge, skills and ethics to face future challenges.


The core subjects in the courses are Television Production, Audio Production, Multimedia Production, Broadcast Journalism, Advertising Management, Management and Marketing. The course in Media Management provides students with the knowledge and understanding of the multi-disciplinary field of Media Management, encompassing media technology and its basic components as well as market studies, business development, organization and economics.
